Colombo International Container Terminals Ltd. (CICT) proudly continues its support for inclusive sports by sponsoring the 17th Uniqlo International Wheelchair Tennis Tournament (ITF Future Series), which kicked off this week in Sri Lanka. As one of the most significant wheelchair tennis events in the country’s history, the tournament unites top-tier athletes from across Asia and features one of the largest prize pools ever awarded in Sri Lankan tennis.
Reinforcing its commitment to community empowerment and accessible sporting opportunities, CICT partnered with the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) to support the event. This sponsorship also plays a role in the World Team Cup Asian Qualification process, further elevating Sri Lanka’s stature in international wheelchair tennis. The tournament spans several key events hosted at two major venues — the Negombo Tennis Club and the SLTA courts in Colombo — running from February 11 to March 2. The schedule includes:
Negombo Open: February 11–14
Colombo Open: February 16–19
Sri Lanka Open: February 21–24
BNP Paribas World Team Cup – Asian Qualifier: February 26–March 2
This prestigious tournament welcomes elite players from countries including South Korea, Japan, Kazakhstan, India, and Australia. Representing Sri Lanka are six standout athletes, led by national wheelchair tennis icons Suresh Dharmasena and Gamini Dissanayake. During the official sponsorship handover, CICT CEO Mr. Jan Zhang presented the sponsorship to SLTA President Mr. Iqbal Bin Issack.
CICT remains steadfast in its mission to promote inclusive sports and community development, both in Sri Lanka and on the global stage, through sustainable and impactful CSR partnerships.
